Students complete activities from a “Tic-Tac-Toe” style menu. The activities and prompts of the Tic-tac-toe require that students process, synthesize, and demonstrate understanding of the three major Gunpowder Empires: The Safavid, Ottomans, and Mughal. Activities are designed to appeal to a variety of different learning styles and allow students to make choices in demonstrating understanding. The lesson may be used as a summative project or an introduction to new information.
This lesson would be appropriate for AP World History, Honors World History, and on level style world history courses.
