This book and its accompanying activities can be used to target a variety of concepts, including: WH questions, retelling, colors, sentence formulation, body parts, and animals.
Set Up: Print the book (pg. 3-15) and laminate. Attach all pages with binder rings. Print, laminate, and cut out the interactive pieces (pg. 16). Affix Velcro to the pieces and to the specified places in the book. I recommend putting at least two Velcro spots on each page, so you can check to see if the student knows the body part. Students will place these in the book as you read.
-Craft activity: Color and cut out the bandages (pg. 17) and glue onto the animal of your choice (pg. 18-19). Students can formulate sentences as they complete this activity.
-Comprehension question cards (pg. 20-21): Students should point to the arrow that shows where the animal got hurt.
-Sentence strips (pg. 22-23): Students can formulate sentences. You can leave the mats as is, or cut out the pieces to place in the square on the strip.
-Black and white mini-book (pg. 24-26): Students can take this home or do it as a follow-up activity.
