These are the "Class Promises" I use in my room every year. Over the course of the first day, we talk about what each one of the promises means and we brainstorm ways that we can see this promise in action.
I find that calling our classroom rules "promises" really helps my kiddos take ownership of the rules because promising something is sooooo important to little ones. :)
And, instead of writing a bunch of specific rules for my littles to remember, there are only 3 and they cover EVERYTHING.
"I was running with scissors." TAKE CARE OF YOURSELF.
"She hit me!" TAKE CARE OF OTHERS.
"He broke a crayon on purpose." TAKE CARE OF ALL THINGS AROUND YOU.
It's amazing and EVERYTHING your kiddos will do this year will fall under one of these categories. =)
I display these happy little signs after we have discussed and practiced ways to keep our promises and what things might break our promises. I hope they add a little organized sunshine to your room!
