Use this book to record the letters in each student's name! Does your class have more Bs or more Ts? You'll find out when your class completes this book!
Print a copy of the entire Letter-Name Book.
Mount the cover page to a piece of 9: X 12” construction paper and laminate it along with a blank piece of 9” X 12” colored construction paper for the back cover.
Make a large name tag for each student in your class. Decide if you will look for individual letters in just first names or in both first and last names.
Each morning, look for a different letter in each name. Begin the first day looking for the letter A or a.
5. Show each name tag and allow the students to tell you if they see an “A” or an “a” in each name. If they do, write that name down and circle every letter “A” and “a” in each name.
6. After you have looked at every name, count up the number of circled letters are on that page and write that number in the square at the top of the page.
Each day, look for a different letter. It will take 26 school days to complete this book.
Math extension: Each day, compare the number of each letter that
you have recorded. Example: We had more of the letter A than B, we
had less of the letter B than C, etc.
When the book is complete, place it in your classroom library. Students will love looking for their name on the pages! :)
10. Always remember to Keep the FUN in the FUNdamentals! :o)
