This unit of information literacy lessons and activities allows students to learn about their state. The skills and knowledge gained will help students learn basic state facts and symbols, state history, geography, current events, and Louisiana people. With a diverse selection of information resources, the librarian must plan and implement lessons and activities to help students learn to critically evaluate and use information resources effectively, while teaching information literacy and making connections across the curriculum. Students will work collaboratively using information resources to answer Louisiana research questions, complete their Louisiana Research booklet, and create a Louisiana postcard. Students will work in pairs to locate, access, and use information resources in various formats and answer Louisiana research questions. The students will evaluate their own Louisiana Research booklet using the rubric.
