This journal was made to go with the book Out of My Mind by Sharon M. Draper. It is aligned to CCSS in both 4th and 5th grade. It allows students to connect with the text, analyze characters, use text evidence explicitly, summarize, enhance group discussion, and think deeply about the events within the story. It includes 14 different journal/discussion topics, two pages for jotting notes while reading, and three different graphic organizers: a character web, venn diagram, and Theme GO.

I orginally made this journal to help my students be ready for discussions with other classes through the Global Read Aloud.
