Product Description
Get ready. This project is OUT of this world! You will quickly find that this is one of those projects that students really get into and will talk about for some time. The "Out-of-this-World Alien Project" has the following learning goals:

1) Select and research a planet in our solar system (Mercury, Venus, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, or Neptune) to develop an understanding of the environment of the planet. Compare and contrast several key characteristics your planet to Earth.

2) Identify problematic characteristics of your planet that would make it difficult for an extraterrestrial to survive there. Create at least five adaptations that your alien would need to inhabit your planet.

3) Create your alien by drawing it with labels that explain the adaptations you created.

4) Design a storybook in an app of your choosing that includes all of the information above

This purchase is WELL worth your money because it includes all of the following:

-Project introduction with project goals included
-Detailed checklist with step-by-step directions for students to complete
-Planning pages complete with all necessary research and directions for students to meet every project goal listed above
-Detailed rubric outlining point values for categories including: content, mechanics, quality, and accuracy.

It is color coded, clearly defined, and very easy to use. You can modify it for students with special needs or gifted and talented students. It is meant for teachers who have access to technology. I use it in my 1:1 classroom and allow students to choose the apps they feel most comfortable with for the actual storybook creation.

Like I said, this is well worth your money and your students will love it. I typically give students a few class periods to work on it, and once students have completed their storybook, I have them share it with their classmates and we make a class album of their alien drawings. It is so much fun!

If you are looking for a shorter, one class period version of the project, check out my "Create-Your-Own-Alien Activity" in my TPT store.
