An introduction to gardening for 4-7 year old children through a forest school ethos, currently held in high regard in the UK. This lesson plan is a great idea for Earth Day and contains games (warm up activities to develop confidence, team bonding, skills in math and language - great for EAL children) and an activity requiring children to sew wild flower seeds. The activity is designed to develop an awareness and respect of/for nature while working within the ethos of Forest School (child centered approach). The lesson/activity is planned for around 2 hours.
The lesson plan also includes learning outcomes which enables for effective assessment to take place as well as key learning objectives which can be useful when justifying the activity to parents or the headteacher.
