PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

Teaching planets in our solar system, phases of the moon, constellations, day/night cycle, and seasons cycle on the upper elementary level. These Task Cards are great to use with third through fifth graders.

These cards do meet the Georgia Fourth Grade Science standards for the following objectives:
S4E1 Students will compare and contrast the physical attributes of stars, star patterns, and planets.
a. Recognize the physical attributes of stars in number, size, and patterns.
b. Compare similarities and differences of planets to stars in appearance, position, and number.
c. Explain why stars in constellations stay the same, but planets can be seen in different locations.
d. Identify technology to observe distant objects.
S4E2 Students will model the position and motion of the earth in the solar system and explain the role of relative position and motion in determining sequence of the phases of the moon.
a. Explain day/night cycle of earth using a model.
b. Explain sequence of phases of the moon.
c. Demonstrate the revolution of the earth around the sun and earth's tilt to explain the seasonal changes.
d. Demonstrate the size and order from the sun of the planets in the solar system.

These cards can be used for whole group instruction, differentiation, or for those early finishers.
