Outer Space: What’s out there? Is a power point presentation designed to introduce students to objects found in outer space. Vocabulary is a focus and includes asteroid, comet, stars, moon, magnitude, meteoroid, meteor, and meteorite.
The first half of the power point is filled with facts and pictures.
The second half of the power point reviews the vocabulary with a multiple-choice question on one slide and the answer on the following slide.
This format keeps my fifth graders very engaged.
The presentation can be used as an introduction to a space unit, or as a review to emphasize vocabulary.
A coordinating worksheet with fill-in the blank format and a quiz based on the review in the power point is also available in my store. Use the worksheet for students to fill in as you watch the presentation together; or watch the presentation whole group and then load the presentation to Google Classroom for students to complete worksheets independently.
