This game for 2-3 players is great to help students practice or review working with fractions depending on their needs. This game may be played as a math center or the class may play all at once broken into small groups.
Other materials needed: a die for each group, slates/markers/erasers or scratch paper, and pawns or counters
GAMEPLAY FOR STUDENTS
Students travel around the board by a roll of the die! Within each space is a task related to fractions. After rolling and moving his or her pawn, the player chooses a fraction card from the pile and applies the task to the fraction they picked up.
While the other students in the group check the player's work on a slate or scratch paper, the player is solving his or her task. If the player is correct, as determined by her or his peers, he or she records the number of points shown in the star on the record sheet.
Play continues around the circle this way until all players have reached the "End" star. Once all students have made it to the end of the board, each student must tally up their points to find the winner. The winner is the student with the most amount of points!
