This is a very extensive list of writing prompts. There are over 250 prompts and they're broken down into categories.
Use them for:
Bell Ringers (Do Now Activities)
Students who complete their work early
Extra Credit Writing Assignments
The task cards are aligned with the common core state standards for grades 5-12
This file contains a PDF copy of my 250 writing prompts/journal topics in task card format.
I would print them out on stock card paper (colored or white) and laminate them so you can use them year after year.
There are more than enough writing prompts for the entire year. In fact there are so many prompts included here that you can pick and choose the prompts you want and still have enough for a daily writing assignment.
Here are a few examples:
How do you feel on the first day of school?
I wish I had a million... Then I would...
What does "The early bird gets the worm" mean to you?
What would you do if you saw a friend cheating--report it, confront the friend, nothing--and why?
*Note: they are the same prompts as my list of Over 250 Writing Prompts/Journal Topics, just in a different format.
