These pages are in my 'Color Chord-inated' format so students can sing while playing a simple chord accompaniment. This file can be projected or printed on 11 x 17 cardstock to create a poster.
First, teach students to sing the melody. Then give each child a bell or boomwhacker and explore the chords, helping them identify the chords their notes belong to. Practice playing chords to a steady beat, then practice chord changes. Note: I have only colored the chords when they change so students can more easliy discern and prepare for chord changes.
You may choose to have a few students play a rhythm ostinato on non-tuned percussion (such as a wood block or patting their laps) based on this text: "Through the wood - - over the river and" :|| (The reverse order of the text will create a nice contrasting accompaniment.)
