* Do your student struggle with overcoming obstacles?
* Do you have students who mainstream into or from your classroom?
* Do you want to help your students to self regulate when they "hit a brick wall" and don't understand what it is?
If you answered "yes" to any of these questions, then this book is for you!
This book was written to give students examples about what happens when they meet an obstacle/hit a brick wall in their life. This book was originally written to support a student who is currently mainstreaming from a small Special Ed class into a larger General Ed class for Math every day.
Currently in my classroom I have students who are meeting obstacles and stopping dead in their tracks. In my class we call it "hitting brick walls" and I wrote a book about one of my own experiences "hitting a brick wall" while camping by myself and also incorporated a brick wall that my student is facing while mainstreaming from a small classroom to a larger classroom.
Since I realize my examples are individual to myself and my student, I am happy for you to only use the parts of this story that are relevant to your needs! Feel free to adapt it any way you need to within your classroom!
I have included different paper choices with this so students can respond to the last page of the story which asks about brick walls they have encountered.
I have also included 2 separate "brick wall" clipart pictures if you wanted to use them to decorate a bulletin board or have students write about their own brick walls and use the picture as their cover, etc.
Feel free to print out this book or use it on a whiteboard.
