Not only will your students learn the life cycle of different oviparous animals, they will learn to research new and interesting facts through books, online resources and close reading passages. You will then facilitate what to do with that information throughout the planning and writing process. Students will be creating their own "all about" books throughout the lessons.

Differentiation:

This unit can be taught in a number of ways. For younger students who need more scaffolding, you may choose one oviparous animal to research and write a book about. Students who still need a fair amount of scaffolding can be grouped together to research an animal. All while your higher students can each research their own individual animal. There are 14 animals included in this unit for students to research.
