Owen and Mzee teaches students about a true story of friendship between a baby hippos and an elderly tortoise.
Peach and Blue teaches students about friendship through the fictional adventures of a young peach and a care blue frog.
Together these stories create an enjoyable book unit!
In this product there are follow up activities for both stories. I start my unit by reading Owen and Mzee with my students, emphasizing that this is a nonfiction book with real characters. There are five activities to go with Owen and Mzee.

Creative Writing about Friendship
I have six copies of each book, so I do this unit in small groups, but it can easily be completed with the entire class. I would recommend having multiple copies of the books for students to reference.
I hope your students enjoy these stories and activities as much as my students do!
