The first month of school, I teach things that most of my students already know so that I can focus on social skills, the classroom routine, the classroom rules, and other necessary skills. Most of my students come to preschool already recognizing all of the colors, but we still play color recognition games.

I also included a cute owl picture that you can put on the back of the cards. How I made these cards is, I printed them out on regular printer paper. Then I glued them to a piece of construction paper, with the owl color on the front and the owls in the tree on the back. Finally I cut them out and laminated them for durability. It takes some prep work, but my students loved the pictures.
