Looking to start a Data Notebook or Leadership Notebook in your primary classroom? Look no further. This year I went to Leader In Me Training on the 7 Habits and was so excited I had to implement these in my classroom right away. I have found some great examples of different pages from different place, but wanted to put one together that would work for my kiddos. So I got together with my partner in crime (Barbara Cornett-http://happyteachingfirst.blogspot.com) and we started to work.
So here is what we came up with- we believe it is a great way to track student progress and help students take responsibility for their learning. This data notebook set is also a great way to monitor individual student progress and celebrate their success.
The set is differentiated to meet the needs of students from Kindergarten to Second grade including the most basic of skills progressing to those more complex. It is aligned to the Common core State Standards and provides students with the responsibility of learning piece of Leader in Me.
The tracking sheets have been specifically designed to meet the needs of primary students giving them a visual representation of their progress in a fun and student friendly way. The students use color pictures to create a completed sheet showing progress and helping students identify their strengths and areas for growth.
The focus on setting goals and monitoring provides great opportunities for discussion and reflection with both students and families.
