Owl Hunt is a fun and active math game that helps practice the concept of subtracting across zeros--three digit and four digit. There are two sets of 12 owl problem cards that are hidden in the classroom. (I usually have one group of students hide them or the teacher can hide them and the whole class can play in teams or pairs.) The students find an owl card, take it to their desk and solve the problem on the owl answer sheet. They then put the owl card back in the hiding place and find another card. Play continues until time is up or someone or some team has answered all the cards. Also included is "Showers of Subtraction" practice subtracting zeros worksheet from my 3rd Grade Subtraction Unit. This sheet is great to use for the other group of students who hide the card or to use as an assignment.
Christmas version also available.
