So, if you want to grab your kiddos’ attention

them all up.
Working in an independent center
, putting together a puzzle, then recording the results, or playing a word game
with a partner
or as a small group
, also creates interest, and helps improve fluency
Whenever I could, I also tossed in a bit of math practice (Tally marks, counting, adding, and analyzing data.
