Have a ton of fun with your students while they are learning beneficial 21 Century Skills using different math and writing strategies as they open their own ice cream shop!

This product will allow students to go from start to finish opening their own ice cream shop. Students will create a business plan, determine how to brand their business, develop their own menus, calculate customer orders, complete inventory orders, figure out employee payroll and SO MUCH MORE!

Students will use several different math, writing and social studies standards as they complete these tasks.

I've included detailed instructions at the beginning of this product on how to use the pages within this resource so it's less planing for you!!

Included in this product students will...

Create a KWL chart of the things they know about opening a business or an ice cream shop.

Use a page of QR codes linked to informational videos on ice cream as well as links to ice cream shops for student research.

Create a 3 page business plan to determine important factors of their business that goes over things like : Strategy, Marketing, Customer Profiles, etc.

Design a store front

Create a name for their business, determine the location and design a store logo

Give a whole class survey on their favorite flavors of ice cream then use this data to create a new flavor for their ice cream shop

Create a menu for their ice cream shop

Create their own inventory list based on the items on their menu

Solve inventory problems using the sample menu included

Create three different business card designs and have other classmates vote on their favorite

Create interview questions to use to find the perfect employees

Determine their reasons for believing in their business by a answering a 2 page survey

Use the most important 3 reasons as to why they believe in their business to write a persuasive piece

Create coupons for their ice cream shop

Create a Grand Opening sign

Calculate and analyze sales using the sample menu

Graph the 3 days worth of sales

Figure out the total to customer orders using the sample menu sheet

Work with partners to place orders off of one another's menus

Determine the pay of employees for one week and two

Calculate the number of hours worked by employees based on their pay and pay rate

Analyze data from graphs to make important decisions for their business

I have marked this resource for grades 2-5. For the lower grades, I would advise doing this more whole group and guiding students through some of the more complex things such as the word problems and calculating sales.
