This activity pack works flawlessly with the classic story, "Ox-Cart Man", and includes three activities, each offered in either color or black and white.
This Activity Packet is also included at a cost savings in our Bundled Reading Literacy Packet - Library One
1. Buying Like the Ox-Cart Man: A lesson and activity in basic economics. Students can work in pairs to use the shillings that they cut out to "buy" one of the items on their activity sheet to take turns purchasing items from the other student.
2. Simple Writing Sentence Activity: Related to the above activity, students will first draw two items: one that they most need and one that they most want in the squares at the top. Then, they will write a sentence ("I will buy" is already written) adding in the items they have chosen. Great opportunity to discuss differences in wants and needs.
3. Ox-Cart Craft: Students will cut out pieces from a craft sheet (can be printed in color OR printed and colored by kids) and create an ox-cart, an ox, a bag of wool, a bag of potatoes, a pair of mittens, and a broom. Extra materials required for this craft include tape or glue, a pair of scissors, and a cotton ball.
Excellent activity for a follow up to reading "Ox-Cart Man" or for a basic economics math unit. You can read more about the flow of this lesson in our blog, ("Ox-Cart Man Reading Literacy Packet"
