This Common Core aligned lesson is a start to finish lesson featuring the Oxymoron. The lesson begins by providing students with an entrance pass encouraging the students to recognize the conflicting connotations between two words and how their meanings are opposite. It also encourages them to recognize the contradiction in the yin yang. Attention is given to the Latin (and Greek) meanings in key vocabulary and how to decode words with those meanings. Moving forward, students evaluate a passage by Shakespeare that has MANY oxymora in it.

Students are then provided sorting slips that, when sorted, can trigger an AURA with the Aurasma app. Imagine that...a self-correcting word sort!!!??!

Conclude your lesson with the Exit Slip provided as well as an assessment piece for homework.
