In this lesson, students create Ozobot "Traits Tracks" using markers colors too create codes for color changes and movements as ozobot "behavior traits". The goal is to connect the idea of programing of these little robots the idea that all living things have both species traits and individual traits that are defined/coded by its DNA.
Ozobots are a small robot that uses markers (and drag and drop computer codes) as a way to program them. They allow the students to see a physical behavior outcome based on the different codes used.
If you are teasing coding, I think this lesson makes a nice science connection.

I have used one single ozobot as a learning station within a genetics unit and I have used a class set as an added part of my genetics unit. I have seen a very positive result in student understanding of DNA to trait outcomes.
