This activity is one of many components necessary for a quality early literacy and math curriculum.
Have your child count the dots on the ten frame, say the total and then circle the corresponding number. The goal is for your child to eventually quantify the number of dots on the ten frame (i.e. say the total without having to count out the dots.)
To isolate the activity, you can cut out the individual ten frame sets. You can also make a copy of the activity, cut out all the ten frames and play memory.
The Book Chart included is a great motivational tool for your child. Start each week by putting a circle on the chart to give them a goal to reach that week. Every time your child reads a literacy story, plays a game or completes an activity sheet they can put a sticker on the chart. You can give your child incentives if they meet their weekly goal.
