Bundle Description
Are you looking to provide your Pre & AP Spanish students formative writing practice for the formal e-mail reply and the persuasive essay? Are you NOT looking to increase your work load by having to read and annotate each submission? ¡Para Aquí!

THE PERSPECTIVE: To improve writing, one has to write, and we want to provide our classroom writers the time and space to practice. But we don’t want to overburden ourselves with assessing each submittal and especially read material when the students haven’t had the training necessary to succeed.

THE PRACTICE: Students are given the time and space to use each other as resources to improve their vocabulary, writing content, focus and organization. They are given tools to reflect on what they have written and to have a peer act as a discerning reader who will look for what is done well and what can be improved.

THE PRODUCT: This product guides the student to reflect on the completion of the elements in a formal e-mail reply and a persuasive essay as required by the College Board for the AP exam by color coding them in their own writing. Secondly, the student is directed to find a critical friend who will read the color-coded assignment and have a conversation regarding what the writer did well and where s/he can improve.

The color-coding and the critical friend’s comments improve the writer’s skill and eases the burden of the instructor to read everything and provide feedback. We recommend that the multi-sided document be stapled to the writing and be available for future writings throughout the year.

• Visually appealing slides to guide the lesson
• Margin notes for Teacher-to Teacher tips
• A clearly stated content objective in English
• A clearly stated content objective in Spanish
• A color-coded guide for the elements of the formal e-mail reply and the persuasive essay
• A definition of a critical friend and instructions on asking a critical friend for effective feedback
• A 30 point rubric in Spanish to reflect upon task completion
• The same 30 point rubric in English to share with administrators and parents or for differentiation
• Clear instruction for how to ease the essay burden for all.
