Looking for fun problem solving games?! How about critical thinking activities EMBEDDED with math, science, and reading content? Get your students engaged and working collaboratively every day!
By adding a Morning Mystery to your daily schedule, you get your students ENGAGING with one another to solve a mystery that REINFORCES math, reading, and science concepts. Students will work cooperatively with YOU to solve multi-step clues! Watch their problems skills grow throughout the year!!
*I originally created these to get my students thinking and working together first thing in the morning. I called them Morning Mysteries, BUT these mysteries are not JUST limited to a morning activity. They could also be solved at any time during the day!
How do Morning Mysteries work?
-Each day, work with your students to solve one mystery. Display the mystery question and clues on the board for students using Powerpoint or PDF. (Both a Powerpoint AND PDF file are included.)
-Each mystery asks a question and includes 5 clues. Students will use the information from each clue to help solve the mystery question.
-Each mystery asks students to use their knowledge of kindergarten concepts to solve it. *This would also be a GREAT review activity for first graders.
-Each week’s mysteries also include a few (optional) printable props. These props allow students to be more hands-on with clues.
As students become more independent throughout the school year, Morning Mysteries can become more of a student-led, community building activity.
What are teachers saying about these mysteries?!
⭐"My firsties love doing this every morning! They beg to do it as soon as they walk through the door."
⭐"I love the variety of this resource. Lots of room for differentiation and content that students are interested in. Thank you!"
⭐FUN ideas from teachers using these mysteries:
"I have been using your mystery questions and my students love it! I am using cheerios to mark off the squares and then the kiddos get a little snack!
I just wanted to share that idea. Thank you for such an awesome resource!!"
•END OF THE YEAR REVIEW:
