Product Description
PARAGRAPHS TO PERSUADE

Teaching students how to construct a paragraph is not an easy task. Paragraphs to Persuade is designed to make this job easier for you and to give students step-by-step directions for mastering this important skill. In keeping with the Common Core Standards, emphasis is on developing a strong topic sentence followed by five or more sentences that contain supporting evidence and details.

Paragraphs to Persuade starts with printables that cover:
• a definition of what it means to persuade
• a worksheet for practicing writing supportive sentences
• a Fact or Opinion? worksheet
• an example of a well-written persuasive paragraph
• a worksheet to organize ideas
• ways for students to revise and edit their writing and more!

The next section of Paragraphs to Persuade is a set of 28 Task Cards – each with a high-interest topic students can easily relate to such as:
• bullying in school
• animals kept in captivity
• school uniforms
• getting paid for good grades
and lots more. In addition, each Task Card has a Word Box of six correlated vocabulary words for students to use if they need help.

Students are only asked to write one well-developed paragraph so they learn the fundamentals of constructing a good paragraph. Encourage student who are ready to go beyond the single paragraph and write essays using these Task Cards as springboards to writing.

A Student’s Checklist for Writing , a Teacher’s Grading Rubric , an Award Certificate , and an Answer Key for the printable worksheets are all included.
