Many of us are preparing to have our students take the PARCC assessment. We all want our students to do well. However, other than one practice test on the Pearson website, there isn't much else to allow our students to practice. Worse yet, is that the Pearson website provides two open ended questions and a narrative response, but no examples to use as models.
I have taken the time to type up model responses for my students in order to show them what will be expected when answering these parts of the PARCC.
I have also written as a fifth grade student might in order to be able to model teaching points for my class. Not to mention that I have also provided for two different narrative responses: one in first person and one in third person point of view, as well as two different point of view responses for the IDA B and Moon Over Manifest open ended response.
Now you can too.I have addedd notes that can be printed out, and with these 5 different exemplars, you will be able to model the following skills:
~use of textual evidence
~explanation of textual evidence
~responding to multiple articles
~point of view and perspective
~how point of view impacts a story
~the use of dialogue and description and so much more!
