PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

PARCC essay prompts can be difficult to decipher. Students need to know EXACTLY what their essay should be about. This lesson is great for students who are comfortable answer questions and restating, answering, citing evidences, and providing extra: R.A.C.E.) because it helps them "flip" or "unpack" PARCC prompts into answerable questions, without missing any parts of the prompt (a common error!).

This product includes a Powerpoint with detailed explanations, instructions, and examples of 4th-9th grade prompts. It also include three different sets (worksheets) of sample prompts (from the PARCC website) and asks students to determine the TYPE of prompt (Research, Lit. Analysis, Narrative) and exactly WHAT questions they should answer in their essay.

This lesson is not meant to have students actually write the essays, just determine exactly what information to include IN their essays!

Includes:
1) Powerpoint: Explanation about the different types and several examples to unpack/flip as a class
2) THREE different practice worksheet AND keys
3) a high level test with a key
