This test is designed and worded after sample PARCC assessments shown online. The test is 9 questions, with an answer key, that include, connotation, inferential thinking, context clues, citing textual evidence, characterization, theme, and order of events. The test requires students to use high order thinking skills and textual evidence to support their answers. The test covers "How Fire was Given to Men" and "How Diseases and Cares Came Among Men" which are supplemental texts used with "Flowers for Algernon". I used them before reading the anchor text and it took us about three days to read the text in the depth required to take this test.
