Having students raise their hands to ask a question isn’t the best way to run a smooth classroom. "Why," you ask? Just give it a try. Go on, right there at your desk during your planning period or at the dinner table with your family, try it; raise your hand to ask for help. Notice what happens to your eyes. That’s right; they immediately break from what they are doing to scan the room. That’s fine and dandy for the first student to encounter a problem but what happens when the second child’s hand goes up? You guessed it, they scan the room also. Soon two off-task student’s eyes meet across the crowded classroom and well…it all goes south from there. The whispering, talking, laughing and joking that only ends in tears in the teacher’s lounge.
Stop it before it starts with a system that doesn’t include breaking eye contact. These desk alerts are designed to get students quickly back on task with helpful hints on getting back to work while waiting for adult help. Start preparing your kids for working through problematic independent work before the standardized test.
The Bundle includes:
* Lesson plan for introduction of the system to your students.
* "Rock & Roll" Desk Alert, both with folding tabs and without.
* Complete Instructions for printing & assembly of the desk alert.
