Who doesn't love desserts?!
Engage your students in a project to plan their very own dessert party. Students will choose their attendees and delve into real-world dessert recipes. They will then use those recipes to research the cost of ingredients and determine how much they need of each ingredient altogether. Finally, students will prepare for the event that they need 1/2 the amount of a recipe or double the amount of a recipe.
This resource is short on paper, but don't be fooled--combined with research and LOTS of calculation, this will keep your students plenty busy!
Skills students will access in this project include:
-adding fractions with unlike denominators
-adding and multiplying mixed numbers
-adding and subtracting decimals
-finding a fraction of a fraction
-finding a fraction of a whole
What are you waiting for? Dessert is served!
