This is a complete lesson plan using the Reading for Meaning note taking strategy from Robert Marzano and the Strategic Teacher book from ASCD. It is wrapped around the video and reading from PBS Frontline/World on their website. There is also a follow up synthesis / PROBLEM based learning activity based around the issues from the Yanacocha Mine. There are complete, step-by-step instructions, for how I use this in my classroom with great success. It hits the theories of multiple intelligences and multiple learning styles on several different levels, as well as increases reading comprehension with the pre, during, and post reading strategies.
