This video assessments will give you a good assessment tool as your students watch the documentary "Slavery and the Making of America - Vol 4 "Challenge of Freedom" by PBS © 2005. This film does a wonderful job of exhibiting the changes to the institution of slavery. This episode spans from 1860 - the end of Reconstruction in 1877. It discusses African American involvement in the Civil War , through Emancipation, and the effects and changes of freedom and the Reconstruction era on African Americans. These sheets work well as a guided note for viewing the film as well.

The questions are in chronological order with the film.The entire video is approximately 60 minutes.
