This set of questions allows students to investigate the process of PCR using an engaging and challenging game from the Nobel Prize website. I have students complete the game in pairs with the assistance of their notes and/or textbook. In the activity, students must perform PCR in a virtual molecular biology lab to solve a crime. It usually takes several tries to complete the game and answer all questions. Afterwards, we do a "debriefing" where each pair shares their answer to one question. I allow the class to judge whether each response is correct and/or complete. The repetition required to solve the game really helps the concepts stick!
