Mats are a rod structure that allows students to intuitively grasp and perceive certain mathematical concepts. Over 60 Worksheets are provided to observe and manipulate these concepts.
Concepts include
Commutative property
Associative property
Distributive property
Equivalency
Students develop their observation skills by comparing and contrasting structures. Students use their observations to predict outcomes.
Notice and wonder tables are provided in journaling pages to provide student directed explorations. Similar and Different tables focus students’ observations more.
There are a total of 9 play mats that provide playful backdrops to this foundational activity. Over 60 worksheets for recording observations and describing rods in relationship to each other.
