Fall Math Games and Fun for your Cuisenaire® Rods. It contains 10 Pumpkin Patch themed activities for your Fall festival that are designed to be used with Cuisenaire® Rods. The activity offers students opportunity to discover and learn through trial and error exploration.
Not your average color by sum page, the three Color By Rods activities are designed to give your students a hands on understanding of Algebraic concepts. Students will work with the rods to solve for the right color rod.
Included are two fun games with a color rod spinner that is sure to have your students wanting to play over and over. One activity focuses on exploring addition and subtraction, and the other activity offers a unique opportunity to use rods for graphing and interpreting data.
Taking your everyday puzzles and expressing them through Cuisenaire® Rods gives students the opportunity to refine their trial and error exploration. With two pages filled with puzzles, students will improve critical thinking and develop higher level thinking.
For children not familiar with using Cuisenaire® Rods and expressing ideas with Cuisenaire® Rods, the teacher will need to model several examples in the Color by Sum pages and puzzles. The children will enjoy having a manipulative to use solving these problems and so these activities make a great introduction to trial by error puzzles.
10 Math Puzzles and Games in all. Plus answer keys. Also included are six pages of instructions that follow a philosophy of allowing children to explore and discover ideas. It is familiar to Differentiated teaching strategies but it is more of Heuristic pedagogy that Dr. Caleb Gattegno taught to accompany the use of Cuisenaire® Rods.
NOTE: These activities are more printer friendly (being mostly black and white) than the other products I have available in my store. The Color Rod Spinner is the only activity page that is in color.

*IMPORTANT PRINTING NOTE* Some PDF software default the file to fit page. This changes the size of the activity so when you print, the cuisenaire rods will not fit within the desired area. Please change your settings so that they do not change the size of the page. This setting varies on your software. For Adobe, change the settings to NONE. For others, the setting should be changed to "use actual PDF dimensions for paper size."
