Here's a life-sized Monopoly-style gamification fitness activity!
I decided that I wanted my students to experience Minecraft and fitness mixed with a monopoly-style game in the gym. I wasn't really impressed with what was out there (great ideas, but presentation value was low), so I created my own. My students loved it so much that I decided to sell it so that others can experience the excitement! They had no idea that the focus was exercising!
This is a very simple activity that will usually fill 30 minutes of class time, and the target grades are 3-8 (grades 1/2 can handle in partners, and HS might even enjoy it). You just print the board game spots (lamination recommended), and either attach them to the walls or cones in a rectangular shape (I included a set-up guide with visual) around the gym space. The students each need a die (board game ones are usually sold cheap in bulk online or at local Goodwill, etc) to roll so they can advance through the game board (students are the token pieces). They take a scoresheet and writing utensil with them to mark off each hero they visit, and they get bonus points at the end for completing a color set (like Monopoly).
There are special space that are bad (traps) and good (temporary power), and even an optional version where they start the game with a power to help them along the way. It's 36 spaces in total. I hope your students enjoy it as much as mine did!
