This project option allows P.E. students to apply what they have learned in the classroom to their own personal lives, interests, hobbies and circumstances. Students are given three options to choose from: run a race, a science-ish experiment, or a teach the teacher option. This tool is delivered in a Google Doc and can be edited by making a copy. All options are listed on the main doc, and a link to each option provides additional details, which can also be edited, by making a copy and linking the pages together. Sample projects are provided.
My experiences with these projects have been surprisingly engaging and entertaining. Students are encouraged to be creative and conduct a project that they are interested in, instead of jumping through a hoop. They enlist the help of friends and family, display their knowledge in new ways, and most of all, it helps them extend their learning into day to day situations and applications.
While the Google Docs are shared and available after purchase, I encourage you to “Make a Copy” of each doc for your own files and your own Drive, and share it with students as needed.
