Students sometimes struggle with using the correct format and structure when the expectation is that their written response should be in paragraph form. Teaching students how to use the PEAL (point, evidence, analysis, link) structure, is often introduce to help guide students’ werin. As students begin to master this technique, you will surely see an improvement in their careful attention to the format and structure of each of their paragraphs.
The attached rubric is a student-friendly rubric is based on the WIDA(World-Class instruction testing and Assessment) Can Do Rubric. This could be used with any student, but has been adapted specifically for our English Language Learners.
