PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

What do you get when you combine role playing, art making, imagination, team collaboration, and conversations about boundaries and refusal skills? A Jeopardy® inspired Game Show...about Peer Pressure!

This FuN!, LOW-PREP, EDITABLE, interactive lesson & game can be used as a stand-alone classroom lesson about Peer Pressure, as a refusal skills and peer pressure introduction, or as a review and/or supplement to your peer pressure and social skills lessons.

This classroom lesson is hands-on and experiential. This Jeopardy® (with a twist) inspired classroom game encourages reflective thinking, and is designed for students to show off and build on their smarts in different ways. Plus, the questions and challenges are 100% customizable so if you like, you can edit them to better fit your specific needs.

It is best used with a Promethean White Board or projector that that can be hooked up to your computer. Formatted as a power point presentation, this peer pressure and refusal skills classroom lesson will not only engage your students, but will also make it easier on you because it is: LOW-PREP for all you busy teachers and school counselors!

TIPS on how to Stand Up to Peer Pressure handout and Lesson Plan is also included!

Also includes BONUS TASK CARDS & WORKSHEETS to provide you with flexibility!!!!! Given that the GAME SHOW takes 40-60 minutes to play, and sometimes we just don't have that much time....or that the GAME SHOW works best projected on a large screen, and sometimes the technology breaks down....or that there are days when we walk into the classroom and just know that a whole classroom game is not going to fly that day....and sometimes students need more quiet, reflective activities......I have included more than 6 additional formats to teach about Standing Up to Peer Pressure. (Note: the additional activities do involve some printing prep-work.)

HOW I USE THIS LESSON:
I love Fred Rogers’ quote that, "for children, play is serious learning." As the research says, creative play really is the language of childhood. No matter the topic covered, I have found that as long as the lesson involves a bit of art, role-playing, games, and some freedom of movement, students are engaged. In this Jeopardy® inspired game, students get to act/ role play, draw, imagine, take risks, and problem solve as a team.

I hope that your students enjoy this peer pressure and social skills activity, having serious fun learning how to set boundaries!
