PERSIA Charts are possibly the easiest way for students to sort information about any given culture or time period. These are my favorite way to teach students to discern information and later to utilize information.

However, students get stumped as to what information needs to go in each category. This is why I am including Prompts for Students. Print this and require them to keep it all year or until they show proficiency with PERSIA charts.

Have you ever taken the time to read students notes? They are bad. Unless you are taking time to explicitly teach note-taking in your classroom (which you should - with PERSIA charts), students really are not good at note-taking. This is where a completed PERSIA chart example is helpful. Print for students for their reference.

What’s Included:

  • Regular PERSIA Chart
  • Long PERSIA Chart
  • Student Example
  • Prompts for Students
  • PERSIA chart Flip Book

The Regular PERSIA is the traditional setup for PERSIA Charts; six columns, one for each letter or category. This is a prep free printable that can be ready within minutes. Print a copy for each country, civilization, or geographic region.

A Long PERSIA Chart is useful for those cultures that have A LOT of information such as Ancient Rome or WWI. With all of the information, students will gather, they need the extra space. Print a Long PERSIA Chart.

The Student Example is a great way to scaffold PERSIA instruction. You could spend two days teaching nothing but PERSIA charts and students will still need a little help. This is one resource they can use all year long. Make it a required piece they keep with them in their notebooks or binders.

The Prompts for Students is a list of prompts for each category. This is just another way to help students find the correct information when filling out a PERSIA chart on their own. This is another piece they should keep with them in their notebooks or binders.

The PERSIA Flipbook is exactly as it sounds. Students create a flipbook and each page contains one letter of the word. This gives students more students for note-taking and is another method to help get organized.

Lucky enough to print in color? A color version is included.

A black and white version is also included because I do not want my printer to mix ink to create a strange version of gray.
