THIS PRODUCT IS IDENTICAL to the product of the same name that has a DYSLEXIA FRIENDLY FONT.
The font in this package is CENTURY GOTHIC and it is larger than OPEN DYSLEXIC.
Depending on your need, either package will be more suitable for your needs. The PREVIEW on each will help you decide.
There are 5 sets of cards in this package. Each set has 26 cards (13 rhyming pairs) and a DONKEY CARD to play the game. That's 135 cards in all; all with short vowel sounds.
The pictures on these cards DO NOT match the word. This is deliberate, because at this stage, you want students matching the rhyming element of each word and developing their phonemic awareness. This requires a knowledge of the short vowel sounds and common consonant sounds, including CC endings (ff, ck, ll, ss). As they play their cards, see and say the word, they are learning from a multi-sensory approach. The game element means they are motivated and will want to play over and over. Some students need more time and practice to master these foundation skills.
If your student are not up to this stage you may find my SORT IT CARDS more appropriate. These have matching picture and word cards and there are a number of games you can play to help students consolidate and discriminate between short vowel sounds. I have lots of ideas of how you can use all my games in my:
