Product Description
PHOTOGRAPHY -Shapes and Shadows Unit of Work for Elective Students

This resource is designed for Elective Photography students. It is a beginning unit that explains the basics of the Digital Camera, shot types and camera angles. It also includes information on The Elements of Art and The Principles of Design.

The Unit is based around the theme of a classic subject– the Still Life. It showcases the talents of FOUR different photographers who used this theme in unique and unusual ways. The unit has two Assessments included. One is based on a Series of 5 still life photographs that the students create with an accompanying Photographic and Digital Media Journal (PDMJ), the other is the creation of a Virtual Gallery/Exhibition with brochure where the students are to write an artist statement and an art critics review. I haven’t included a scaffold for these as I use samples from a variety of sources and students analyze these before creating their own.

Each lesson also includes reading strategies from the Super Six— Making Connections, Predicting, Questioning, Monitoring, Visualizing and Summarizing. There are learning activities to help increase the literacy skills of your students while they learn about different types of photography techniques, terms and about the photographers themselves. Accompanying each of the lessons are practical activities that are designed to build the skills and the PDMJ of the young photographer.
