PIE CHARTS NO PREP PRINT-N-GO PRINTABLES
Work in this unit is divided into two sections:
I. Reading and Interpreting Pie Charts
Data sets are represented in fractions and percentages. Students interpret data represented in tally tables and pie charts. Each graphing activity includes target questions that interpret data and is accompanied with an answer sheet. There is also a black and white version of the represented pie chart for each graphing activity. There are seven pie charts under this section.

II. Constructing Pie Charts
Activities in this section require students to represent data from tally tables, class surveys and hands-on materials like dice, spinners, smarties and coins in pie charts. Step-by-step instruction facilitates the construction of the proportion of each sector that make up a pie chart using a protractor. There are nine pie charts under this section.

The following sections are featured.

I. Reading and Interpreting Pie Charts – Section 1
There are 16 color task cards in this section comprising of 8 question cards, 8 pie chart representations and 1 student answer response sheet. Answers to the 8 question cards are included.
* suggested use: math centers

II. Reading and Interpreting Pie Charts – Section 2
This section has a black and white version of the 16 color task cards in section 1. Answer cards can be projected on the interactive whiteboard for students to self-check.
* suggested use: cut and paste in notebooks

III. Constructing and Interpreting Pie Charts – Section 3
This section has 6 task cards that require students to collect real-life data via class surveys. Collected data is tabulated and represented in a pie chart. Students use a protractor to construct the degrees of each sector. A sample working-out of this procedure is included. There are 12 response sheets (2 per page) to represent and interpret data collected in pie charts.

IV. Constructing and Interpreting Pie Charts – Section 4
There are 4 task cards that require students to use hands-on materials (dice, spinners, smarties and coins) to collect data. There are 8 response sheets (2 per page) to represent and interpret collected data in pie charts. Students use a protractor to construct the degrees of each sector.

In addition, there are 16 flashcards featuring key mathematical terminology , 4 spinner templates and 1 poster defining and explaining the concept of pie charts.

Suggested Use:
✓ As a follow-up to an instructed lesson on pie charts.
✓ As a practice and assessment activity.
✓ In Independent Math Centers or Work Stations
✓ Morning Work
✓ Early finishers

To reiterate, content in both formats is similar with an addition of two more graphs in the task card section. This is so you can have the option of using task cards or the (no prep) printables.
