Want a great way to introduce kids to classical music, world music and jazz and tie it all together with songs, rhymes, movement and other activities that build musical skills? That’s what CLASSICS ROCK! CLASSICAL MUSIC FOR YOUNG CHILDREN is all about.
This product is the same as my "Thanksgiving, Hanukkah and Nutcracker Together" except without the Thanksgiving. In this product, you will find songs and musical activities that celebrate Hanukkah and “The Nutcracker Ballet”. I suggest a storybook about the Nutcracker that is the best I’ve found for introducing young children to the music and story of the “Nutcracker Ballet”
The activities can be taught over several lessons and can be used with PK/K or first grades, depending on the level of your students. Some visual aids are included. No matter what your background in music, you will find lots here that you will be comfortable teaching.
These are some of the skills that children will develop through the activities:
1. Singing holiday and seasonal songs
2. Listening to classical and multi-cultural music, moving to music
3. Steady beat and rhythmic activities
4. Creative movement
5. Eye/hand coordination
6. Moving, listening and body awareness
7. Small motor skills
8. Experience 3/4 and 6/8 meters
The storybooks I suggest are all in print and used copies can often be found very inexpensively on Amazon. The recordings can be found on Amazon MP3 digital downloads or on iTunes. I give specific directions so you can easily find the recordings you need. Once you have these resources in your library, you will use them for many years to come.
