This SMARTboard lesson begins with a mini lesson about place value working with ones, tens, hundreds, and thousands. PIctures of ones (units), tens (longs), hundreds (flats), and thousands helps students visualize numbers. It moves from the mini lesson to practice problems. Students are asked to fill in the blanks showing an expanded form of the number represented and then finally writing the whole number together. Some problems leave out the hundreds or the tens on purpose so students see they must use a 0 in the number as a place holder if there are no tens or hundreds represented. All slides are self checking sot it can also work for an independent center or station in addition to a small group or large group teacher directed lesson. Created with Smart Notebook 11.
