I developed this set of task cards for my intervention students who needed more consolidation in place value. Each card takes a few minutes to complete and by doing them on a regular basis, I ensure that the principles of place value are mastered over time. I have extended the range of skills into decimals to give them a pathway for progress.
You could also add these cards to a Maths Centre. The Answer Book is included and you could encourage independent learning by providing access to the answers under teacher supervision. This way students progress through the cards at their own rate. I would laminate the cards and have my students draw up the grids in their books and then check them when they have done 2 (to correspond with the Answer Book pages).
The task cards are graduated in difficulty with 6 levels as you can see in the PREVIEW. You can accommodate a range of ability levels this way.
