Strengthen your students sight word reading with this “POP” Sight Word Game!
Just print (cardstock or paper), cut, and laminate (if you choose) or fold. Put the cards in anything that will prevent the students from seeing the word while choosing a card. Examples: brown lunch bag, popcorn container, big bowl, hat.
Each player takes a turn to pick a card out of the container without looking. If the word is read correctly, that player keeps the card and it’s the next player’s turn. If the player doesn’t read it correctly, the player puts the card back. If a student chooses a “POP” card, he or she must put ALL of the sight word cards back into the container. Leave the “POP” card out. The student at the end with the most cards wins the game! Enjoy!
This game includes the 1,000 Fry Sight Words and “POP” cards. The sight word cards are approximately 2 in. x 2 in. and are in black and white. There is one page of black and white “POP” cards and one page of red “POP” cards. There is also a blank page to write in additional sight words.
